Photos

We've added a Photos section so you can search and browse images pulled from the document archive without opening every PDF.

What’s in the Photos section?

Many documents in the archive are photo albums or multi-page PDFs full of images. We extract those pages into a single gallery. Each photo is linked back to its source document, so you can see which file it came from and jump straight to that document if you want.

How does search work?

You don’t search the images themselves—you search the text of the documents they belong to. When you type a query (e.g. “flight manifest” or a person’s name), we find documents whose content matches your search, then show you the photos from those documents. So you’re really asking: “Show me photos from documents that mention X.” That makes it easy to find images in the right context without opening hundreds of PDFs.

What you’ll see

For each photo you get a thumbnail, a short summary of the source document (when available), and a link to open the full gallery or the original document. New documents are added to the gallery as we process them; if we’re still building summaries, a short notice will appear at the top.

Where to find it

Go to Photos from the homepage or the main nav to browse or search. Use the search box to narrow results by keyword or topic—you’ll get photos from every document that matches.
